In this guide you will find information on how you can add DOAJ journals to your JST tool. There are two options available, the first is to add a link to DOAJ on your search page and the second is to import a list of DOAJ journals in to your JST.
Adding as a link
- To add a link to DOAJ on your Public Journal Search Page first of all click on Branding either on the Main Dashboard or from the sidebar.
- You will now arrive at the Branding page where you can make your customisations. On the Text tab you will need to go to Content & Information to find the Extra details, links, or notices (URLs must start with https://) text box.
- n the Extra details, links, or notices (URLs must start with https://) box write the text you would like displayed e.g. Find diamond journals at DOAJ
- Then add a link by highlighting the text and clicking on the link icon
- Enter the URL to your webpage e.g. https://www.doaj.org, it must begin with https://, and click Save
- Then make sure to go to the top of the Branding page and click Save
This will now appear immediately on your Public Search page
Importing a DOAJ list
A few things to note before importing DOAJ into your JST:
- The DOAJ list is regularly updated - several times a week - with additions and withdrawals
- The DOAJ is a large file and contains 20,000 journals
- Importing the full list will greatly increase the number of journals included within your JST. There may also be duplication of titles where open access titles are in a publisher agreement AND listed within DOAJ.
- Depending on what journals you would like to show within your JST you may need to sort through the DOAJ file to determine which journals should be imported. E.g. Only journals with No APC.
Getting the list ready
- You can download a CSV of all DOAJ Journals from https://doaj.org/docs/public-data-dump/
- Make any changes you want to the file. Here are a few examples of changes you may like to make:
- Removing journals you do not want to show with in JST
- Changing column names to ensure it is imported correctly e.g. Publisher to Imprint
- Adding missing columns to ensure it is imported correctly e.g. Publishing Model
- Removing unnecessary columns
- As it is a CSV you will need to covert it to a xlsx format to ensure it imports correctly. You can do this by opening a new workbook in Excel-> click Get Data -> From file -> Text/CSV -> Select file and click Import. This should automatically detect the format as File Origin: Unicode (UTF-8); Delimiter: Comma. Then click Load
- You can then save the file as a .xlsx
Adding a New Agreement
- Go to the Agreements page either from the Main Dashboard or the Side Bar
- Click on Add an Agreement
- You will now need to fill in all the fields before you will be able to create the agreement
- Publisher

Note: If there is a payment option within the import list, the import will be used. This is used as a default when it is missing from import list - Agreement URL

You can also sort journals with missing information by clicking the box next to Only show entries with missing data
Once here you should be able to see which fields are missing, in this example the publishing model is missing.
In the above example we can see:
